Colleges: Tampa women trounced by Grand Valley State

No.9 Grand Valley State handed No.24 Tampa a harsh lesson on Sunday morning, as Alyssa Mira scored twice in the Lakers’ 4-0 rout of the Spartans.

Tampa fell behind in the second minute, an own-goal giving the Lakers the lead. Mira then scored her first in the 26th minute, latching onto a through-ball by Irie Dennis before finishing.

Caitlin Boyak added a third two minutes later, heading home from Erin Mruz’s corner. Mruz also had a hand in the Lakers final goal, her blocked shot falling to Mira, who scored on the rebound.
The Spartans will try to rebound, and find their first win on the season when it travels to Columbus State next weekend. Tampa will face Tusculum on Friday and Chowan on Sunday in the invitational tournament.
