Colleges: Tampa falls to Jacksonville in exhibition

The University of Tampa lost its second exhibition match of the preseason, as it fell 2-1 to host Jacksonville University on Wednesday night.

Dolphins forward Nedim Hrustic scored both goals for the Atlantic-Sun champions, including the game-winner in the second half.

“We looked pretty good for our first live action,” JU head coach Mike Johnson said. “Even though we still have some people missing, I was very pleased with the overall effort. I saw glimpses of how good we can be in the first half, but we got tied in the second half which is to be expected. Most importantly, we plan to get sharper and improve each day to get ready for our season opener on Sept. 1.”

Tampa tied the game earlier in the second half, as freshman Joey Gratt, formerly of Countryside High, took advantage of a defensive mistake by the Dolphins to find the net.
