Colleges: Glenn hat trick power Lions to victory

Jonathan Glenn fired a hat trick as Saint Leo cruised to a 3-0 victory against Georgia Southwestern State on Friday afternoon in Americus, Ga.

It took barely a minute for the Lions (3-1-0) to take the lead, Glenn latching onto a through-ball by Leonardo Nogueira to score from eight yards out.

The Lions then bolstered their lead with two goals in three minutes around the half-hour mark, Glenn catching Hurricanes goalkeeper David Porley out with a quickly taken free kick. Glenn then capitalized on a pass from Bruce Cutler to complete his hat trick in the 32nd minute.

Saint Leo took its foot off the gas pedal in the second half, but still played tightly enough defensively to only allow the Hurricanes (0-6-0) one shot on goal late in the second half. Former Freedom High goalkeeper Kyle Peel made the save, having come on for his Lions’ debut with seven minutes to play, replacing starter Erik Mozzo.
