Tampa Catholic’s Brendan McCarron has become the third local player to commit to Division II Coker College in South Carolina to continue his soccer career according to Crusaders coach Kevin McCarron.
Brendan McCarron joins Crusaders teammate Jason Getreu and King’s Steven Scrivens, who have also committed to the Cobras. Coker won the Conference Carolinas conference tournament last month, defeating eventual Division II national finalist Lees-McRae in the semifinals.
With the Conference Carolinas champion not receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, the Cobras weren’t included in this year’s field, but they appear to be on the upswing after first-year coach Paul Leese staged a remarkable turnaround in the program’s fortunes, finishing with the best record (12-5-3) in the school’s history.
