WHEN: Sunday, 1 p.m., Pepin-Rood Stadium
NEED TO KNOW: The University of Tampa will try to win its second Sunshine State Conference tournament title when it takes on Barry. The Spartans previously won the title in 2007, and enter Sunday’s final as the favorite after their 3-0 victory against Nova Southeastern in Friday’s semifinal.
Lister Warren continued his recent run of form against the Sharks, and has now scored five goals in the last two goals. That has him tied with Pascal Milien for the team lead in goals, as both now have 11. The Spartans earned a 2-1 victory over the Buccaneers in their prior meeting this season, Brian Fekete and Milien scoring the goals for the Spartans on that occasion.
The Buccaneers advanced to the final with a 1-0 win against No.1 seed Rollins on Friday, the goal coming with just under three minutes to play. The Buccaneers are the only side to defeat the Tars this season, earning victory in the regular season in addition to Friday’s victory. The Spartans will need to watch out for Mark Anderson, who has scored 15 goals in 19 games this season.
