Preps: Gryphons, Panthers retain top spots

Sickles and Plant remained on top of the boys and girls Hillsborough County Coaches’ Soccer Poll when it was released, with Jesuit jumping in at No.5 in the boys poll after being unranked a week ago.

Sickles boys remained undefeated with its victory against Leto, and saw its game against Freedom on Friday night postponed. Tampa Prep’s victory against Pinellas power East Lake wasn’t enough to lift the Terrapins into the top slot, and they remain second, while East Bay moved up a slot as Gaither dropped to No.4 after its loss to Wharton on Thursday night.

That win allowed the Wildcats to make their first appearance in the poll, entering at No.8.

Plant and Newsome held onto the top two positions in the girl’s poll, with Bloomingdale and Berkeley Prep each shifting up a spot as Tampa Prep dropped to No.5 after a 0-0 draw against Indian Rocks Christian last Tuesday.
