College Matchday: No.13 South Florida at Notre Dame

WHEN: Sunday, 1 p.m., Alumni Stadium

NEED TO KNOW: South Florida will continue the defense of its Big East title against a Notre Dame team it defeated earlier in the season.

The Irish weren’t at full strength when the two teams played at the USF Soccer Stadium on Sept. 20. Jorge Mora’s late goal gave the Bulls a 2-1 victory. Overall, the Bulls have won four times and lost only once to the Irish since South Florida joined the Big East.

The game could be a tight one, with both defenses having excelled all season. For the Bulls, goalkeeper Jeff Attinella has played every minute of the season and holds a 0.70 Goals Against Average. For the Fighting Irish, Philip Tuttle has been a touch better, holding a 0.68 GAA.

At the other end of the field, Bright Dike has had a strong season for Notre Dame, leading the team with nine goals, while Michael Thomas has scored six goals and added five assists. The Bulls will hope Hasani Sinclair’s form will be maintained as the standout freshman now has five goals on the season., tied for the team lead with Bernardo Anor.
